Cold Bituminous Mixes

The Cold Bituminous mixes are suitable for intermediate and wearing layers in the filling of ditches (holes), conservation, anti-crack and surface treatments. They provide excellent safety due to flexibility, fatigue resistance, and macro-structure.

Bituminous mixes combine crushed mineral aggregates with bituminous emulsion and, occasionally, additives. The resulting mixture can be stored before being applied, spread and compacted at room temperature.

By being produced, stored, and applied at room temperature, these mixes become more ecological. This procedure is carried out in specific plants with an experimental formula that is constantly under control. The mixes’ curing progression is adjusted according to the specifications required for each situation. Once the working formula is selected, the experimental section is executed, thus adjusting the construction process and the progression of the mixes’ cure is evaluated. For the mix compaction, static flat track rollers are used. For the mix compaction, static flat track rollers are used. This process must be carefully controlled since there is no test procedure.

Cold bituminous mixes work essentially by internal friction between the particles.
